NXDN Programming Cables
Popular ICOM NXDN handheld (portable) radios, land mobile radios and repeaters require USB interface programming cables along with programming software to program radios. The table below identifies specific programming cables for each of the radios listed as well as notes about programming software revisions that will affect modulation deviation.

Note 1 – Early ICOM cables that are not marked with a “B” can only be used on Windows 7 or earlier operating systems. Newer Windows operating systems require current technology USB chips in the cables and these newer cables are marked with a “B”. Third party programming cables carrying the same cable part numbers as genuine ICOM cables may not operate correctly. Any decision to use non-ICOM brand programming cables is at your own risk. If non-ICOM brand programming cables are considered for use, be sure that the manufacturer specifically states that USB chips and drivers work with current operating systems.
Note 2 – Caution: using programming software version 5 or higher will permanently set your HT to narrowband FM. Once your radio is set to narrowband FM, it cannot be returned to wideband FM regardless of what the programming settings show. To maintain wideband FM, use this 4.9.1 version.
Note 3 – The OPC-1122u cable is no longer available. It has been replaced by the OPC-2344.
